Communication – Keeping in touch with staff at Nexus
It is vital that there are good lines of communication between staff and parents/carers. There are various ways in which you are able to stay in contact:
- All pupils at Nexus have a Home/School Communication Book. We have worked hard to develop these books so they are informative for both parents/carers and staff at Nexus. This is the main form of communication between home and school for the majority of the pupils. Staff are provided with clear guidance about the way in which they communicate information to parents/carers.
- Parents / Carers can also contact staff at school via the main telephone number – 01732 771384. It is not always possible to speak to teaching / support staff during school hours, however you are able to leave a message with reception who will pass this to the member of staff. The main switchboard is manned until 4.30pm so you can also try telephoning after 3.30pm. If you do telephone and leave a message asking for a teacher to return your call they will do so within 24 hours. If you need to speak to your child’s teacher as a matter of urgency please state this when you speak to reception.
- As an alternative to telephoning the school you are also able to email. You can email your child’s class teacher via the “Contact My Teacher” page which can be found within the “School Information” menu. You can also find your teachers email address inside your child’s home school contact book. Teachers are expected to regularly check their emails and within 48 hours. Please note that there is no expectation for staff to read or respond to emails after 5.30pm or weekends/school holidays.
- If you would like a face to face meeting with a member of staff you can arrange this via email or telephone.
When raising any queries / questions, your child’s teacher / HLTA should be your first port of call. If they are unable to answer your questions they will be able to signpost you to the most appropriate person.
If you have liaised with your child’s teacher but been unable to resolve your query / questions you can contact Michelle Patterson or Cathryn Falconer – Deputy Head Teachers.
