ASD Transition Project 2022 - 2023

Dear SENCos
As in past years, we are planning to run our Secondary ASD Transition Project again for our Tonbridge and Malling Schools. We hope that this will provide your school with the tools and resources to secure a successful transition for your ASD pupils to their secondary school placements.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer schools funding for the pupils taking part in the project, but we hope that schools will still be able to prioritise this important transition work for their ASD pupils.
Schools are not required to get an Agreement to Engage form completed by parents, however, the parents should still give permission and be aware of their child’s participation in the project.
The programme will follow the following format:
·         Thursday, May 19, 2022, 9.30 – 11.00 am
Both Primary and Secondary school SENCos meet virtually to go through the Transition Project Booklet for this year and discuss the plan for the rollout of the project. A Teams link to the launch meeting will be sent to those registering their pupils and confirming their participation in the project.
        Friday, June 17, 2022,       1.30 – 3.00 pm
A virtual surgery for SENCos will be available to review progress and address any issues around transition that schools have identified. A flyer with details regarding this will be sent out in Term 6.
Please complete the booking form below, with your details and on the second page the details of the student you are registering. One form per student, please.
If you have any questions please email admin@stls.nexusschool.org.uk.
Looking forward to working with you all once again on this very successful project.
Yours sincerely

SEMH Transition Project 2022 - 2023

Dear Tonbridge and Malling SENCo’s,
YEAR  6/7 TRANSITION
The Tonbridge and Malling  STLS Service are again running our SEMH transition project which will provide extra support for your vulnerable Year 6 children as they move to their new secondary school.  As in previous years, this will include support from Yogi, our therapy dog, as well as liaison between primary and secondary schools, which will continue into Terms 1 and 2 of next year.
The children eligible for this project would be:
  • Pupils that are currently open to STLS with the SEMH Team who are likely to be vulnerable during the transition to secondary school
  • Pupils that are not currently open to STLS but may be considered vulnerable e.g. at risk of school refusal, high anxiety, disengaged and have social difficulties.
If you feel you have pupils who are eligible for this, please:
We are currently adapting and updating the project and liaising with secondary schools to establish their engagement. We are also collating any existing transition work from other agencies. PLEASE NOTE that pupils with an ASD diagnosis should join the ASD Transition Project (unless otherwise discussed with Judi Beggs).
If you have children who are identified as being eligible, please send out the letter below to parents. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you soon.
Best Wishes,
The SEMH Team
