Key points on booking surgery appointments - Please read before booking a place.
When booking a surgery slot, please make it clear in your e-mail which dimension and date you would like. There are now several different dimension surgeries taking place on the same day.
The timings of the surgeries have been 'standardised' and typically there are 3 slots in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. If you have a preference, please request this when you book.
If a child is currently open to any member of STLS, please do not book a surgery slot. Contact the specialist teacher they are currently open to and arrange a case-list review meeting. If input from an additional teacher/dimension is needed, this can be arranged as necessary.
The surgery slots are a maximum of 45 minutes and the additional 15 minutes allocated are to enable the specialist teacher to finalise the notes that they will take during the surgery. These will then be sent to you after the meeting for your records.
You can discuss a maximum of 2 children per surgery slot. Please make it clear at the start of the surgery if you will be doing this. Discussing more than one child is an efficient and effective use of the time available. Please take advantage of this where possible, especially as the surgery slots are in demand and getting booked up weeks in advance.
The surgery slots are extremely popular; as such if you no longer require the slot or are not able to make the time allocated to you, please email Emma Holt as soon as possible so we can allocate it to another school.
All SENCo’s must attend a surgery before submitting a LIFT referral. There will, be exceptions to this request, but in such instances, please contact Emma Holt directly.
All surgeries are delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams.
The surgeries aim to support SENCo's /Practitioners /Teachers /inclusion Managers to identify strategies and signpost individuals to interventions and resources through our STLS Library or online websites and apps. Relevant training opportunities may also be highlighted.
Please get in touch with Emma Holt if you would like to book a place for one of our surgeries.

T&M STLS Consultation Information:
Consultations – A consultation visit may be the outcome of either a Surgery or LIFT Referral and is a one-off visit from a Specialist Teacher to an individual or group of pupils in a school or setting. The individual or group is not opened to STLS so no parental agreement to engage is required, however, it is strongly advised that parents are made aware of the consultation. Following the consultation, a brief outcome sheet will be given to the school or setting from the Specialist Teacher, which can be used as evidence of engaging with the Local Offer if required.
These free virtual sessions provide an opportunity to discuss specific children (either anonymously or named with parental permission) who are of concern regarding;
Slow academic progress or speech and language needs - Cognition & Learning
